Functional Medicine & Advanced Testing

Our clinic combines naturopathic medicine with functional medicine principles to provide a comprehensive and personalised approach to health. Both approaches recognise the importance of looking at the wider picture, considering how nutrition, digestive health, hormones, lifestyle, environment and other factors may interact and influence wellbeing.

We also offer advanced functional medicine testing to provide additional insight and help guide your personalised treatment plan. Working with trusted specialist laboratories, we offer testing across a broad range of areas including gut and microbiome health, nutritional status, hormones, genetics, metabolic function and more.

Advanced GI Testing

We offer advanced gastrointestinal testing to provide an in-depth assessment of digestive and gut health. Testing options include comprehensive microbiome analysis, H. pylori, faecal calprotectin, occult blood, digestive function markers and screening for gastrointestinal microorganisms. Comprehensive stool analysis can assess the composition and balance of intestinal bacteria and identify patterns of dysbiosis, Candida and other gastrointestinal microorganisms. Parasite screening is also available, testing for a broad range of intestinal parasites and protozoa. Testing can be customised according to individual clinical needs and results used to help guide your personalised treatment plan. Indications: GI disorders, IBS-type symptoms, diarrhoea, bloating, constipation, abdominal discomfort, altered bowel habits, immune and inflammatory concerns, skin conditions, fatigue, headaches and migraines, nutritional deficiencies and other concerns where gut health may be relevant.

DUTCH Complete™

Hormone & Adrenal Health

DUTCH Completeâ„¢ provides a comprehensive assessment of sex and adrenal hormones and their metabolites, alongside the diurnal pattern of free cortisol and markers of melatonin. This provides valuable insight into hormone metabolism, adrenal function and the body's stress response. For women, testing may be useful when investigating hormonal symptoms and imbalances, menstrual or reproductive health concerns, and during perimenopause or menopause. It may also be used to provide additional information when monitoring hormone replacement therapy (HRT). For men, DUTCH testing can provide insight into testosterone, DHEA, oestrogen metabolism, cortisol and other aspects of hormonal health, particularly where symptoms suggest that hormone balance or stress physiology warrants further investigation. Results are interpreted alongside your symptoms, health history and other relevant findings to help guide your personalised treatment plan.

Allergy & Sensitivity Testing

We offer both IgE allergy testing and IgG food sensitivity testing, depending on the type of reaction being investigated. IgE testing assesses allergic sensitisation to common food and environmental allergens, including foods, pollens, dust mites, and animal dander. Testing can be useful when investigating suspected allergic reactions and identifying potential triggers. IgG testing measures food-specific IgG antibodies across a wide selection of foods. Results can provide additional information when exploring patterns of food reactivity and are considered alongside symptoms, dietary history and the wider clinical picture. Only a small blood sample is required for testing. Indications: suspected food or environmental allergies, food sensitivities, digestive symptoms, bloating, skin concerns, headaches, fatigue and other symptoms potentially associated with food or environmental triggers.

Intestinal Permeability & Immune Health

This advanced stool test assesses markers associated with increased intestinal permeability, immune activity and gastrointestinal inflammation, providing additional insight into the relationship between gut and immune health. Results can help identify areas of imbalance and guide your personalised treatment plan. Indications: allergies, food sensitivities, autoimmune conditions, inflammatory conditions, digestive concerns and chronic health complaints.

Hair Elements & Heavy Metals

Hair mineral analysis provides a non-invasive assessment of nutritional elements and potentially toxic metals found within a hair sample. It can provide information about longer-term patterns of mineral status and exposure to certain elements, complementing other clinical information when investigating nutritional balance and environmental influences on health. The analysis includes elements such as mercury, lead, arsenic, aluminium and cadmium, alongside a broad profile of essential and nutritional minerals. Results are interpreted within the wider clinical picture and can help guide your personalised treatment plan. Only a small hair sample is required, making this a simple and non-invasive testing option.

Further Functional Medicine Testing

In addition to the testing highlighted above, we offer a broad selection of other functional medicine testing, including DNA and genetic testing, Organic Acids Testing (OAT), mycotoxin testing, vaginal microbiome testing, urinary tract testing, nutritional and metabolic assessments, and more. Following your consultation, Rita can discuss the testing options most relevant to your individual health needs and personalised treatment plan.
